Regarding the Use of Genuine Sony Rechargeable Battery Packs

Sony would like to remind VAIO Notebook PC customers to use only genuine Sony VAIO rechargeable battery packs. Sony has discovered that third parties supplied battery packs for use with VAIO notebook PCs can cause safety hazards, including overheating / fire, emitting fumes, or disintegration of the battery packs.

Some of these battery packs, manufactured and sold by third parties, are marked “For use with Sony VAIO Computers”. However , they may not comply with Sony quality standards, specifications, and requirements for long-time, high-power voltage usages for rechargeable battery packs.

For your safety, we would like to remind you to only use genuine Sony rechargeable battery packs with your VAIO notebook PCs. Sony will not be responsible for any accidents or product breakdown that are caused by third parties' battery packs, and Sony battery packs that have been tampered with or disassembled by users. Please refer to VAIO Notebook PCs' user menu for the proper usage and handling of battery packs.
