    Request to Stop Using Home Audio System CMT-SX7 – Updated on July 30, 2015

    Dear Valued Sony customers,

    The countermeasure mentioned in the announcement appended below is now available in the form of firmware update.


    The firmware update will be released in two stages as described below :
    - First update on July 30,2015:This firmware update disables the adjustment of “BASS” and “TREBLE”. This will prevent the tweeter on speaker from deteriorating. You may continue using the product.
    - Second update is to be released in mid -August 2015:This firmware update enables the adjustment of “BASS” and TREBLE”, as well as resolves the issue mentioned in announcement appended below.

    Request to Stop Using Home Audio System CMT-SX7

    It has come to our attention that the CMT-SX7 marketed in Hong Kong may possibly display the following symptoms due to an issue with certain electrical parts:
    1. Music cannot be played back normally, some noise disturbance may experienced;
    2. High frequency signals, not audible to humans, may be experienced High frequency signals, not audible to humans, from the speaker or headphones. This would be at the sound pressure level equivalent to high volume headphones.
    3. The tweeter on the speakers may deteriorate due to its built-up temperature. If this occurs, there may be slight smoke visible or unusual odour. (These conditions do not damage the surrounding of the speaker.)

    If you have one or more of the CMT -SX7, please immediately stop using and unplug the product from the mains.
