What is Smart connectivity?

How does Smart connectivity work?

IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check the Applicable Products and Categories section of this article before starting these steps.

    Solution

When both a Wi-Fi and a mobile network are available, Smart connectivity ensures that you're using the network with the best connection quality. It uses Xperia's deep learning technology to analyse Wi-Fi signals and predict near-future connectivity issues. If it finds that the Wi-Fi network you're currently using is about to decrease significantly in connection quality and become unstable, it switches to mobile network. This will make your connectivity more seamless and help to prevent any disruptions.

Smart connectivity is activated by default, but you can turn it off if you prefer to always prioritise Wi-Fi connections.

    To turn off Smart connectivity

    1. Find and tap Settings Network & Internet > Advanced Smart connectivity.
    2. Tap the switch beside Use service to turn the feature off.

Note: Smart connectivity doesn't impact individual apps which limit connections to Wi-Fi only or mobile network only.
