Norton Internet Security 2007 - How to permit and prevent communications between the networks and the computer?
Permitting and preventing communications between the networks and the computer.
Note: After the computer is connected to the Internet, Norton Internet Security will automatically recognize the network types.
Firewall will monitor the communication between the networks and the computer to permit or prevent the communications according to each requirement.
Please follow the instructions below:
■ Permit communication
● Reliable networks
1. Click Start -> All Programs -> Norton Internet Security > Norton Internet Security.
2. After running Norton Internet Security, click Settings.
3. Click Internet Security and Firewall Options under the Additional Options tab.
4. If the User Accounts Control dialog box appears, click Continue. You can refer to the related information below
5. Click Trust Control in Internet Security and Firewall Options dialog box.
6. Click Active in the reliable and non-classified networks list, and choose trust networks.
Note: Click Restricted in the reliable and non-classified networks list and choose reliable networks.
7. Click Trust.
8. Click OK when a prompt appears.
9. Go back to Internet Security and Firewall Options and click OK.
● Reliable PCs
1. Click Start -> All Programs -> Norton Internet Security-> Norton Internet Security.
2. After running Norton Internet Security, under Quick Task, click View History.
3. When the History Record of Security dialogue box appears, click and choose Firewall-Traffic.
4. The Firewall-Traffic Amount list appears. Click the items which are reliable but where communications have been prevented.
5. When the More Detailed page disappears, click in Option, choose Trust and click Apply.
6. Click [×] (Close) to close Record of Security History. The setting is now completed.
■ Prevent communication
● Restricted networks
1. Click Start -> All Programs -> Norton Internet Security -> Norton Internet Security.
2. After running Norton Internet Security, click Settings.
3. Click Internet Security and Firewall Options under the Additional Options tab.
4. If the User Accounts Control dialogue box appears, click Continue.
Refer to the related information below.
5. Under Personal Firewall, click Trust Control after Internet Security and Firewall Options appears.
6. To restrict the non-classified networks, click Active and choose restricted networks.
Note: To restrict the reliable networks, click Trust and choose restricted networks.
7. Click Restrict.
8. Click OK save current setting and go back to Internet Security and Firewall Options and then click OK. The setting has completed.
● Restricted PCs
1. Click Start -> All Programs -> Norton Internet Security-> Norton Internet Security.
2. After running Norton Internet Security, under Quick Task, click View History.
3. After the History Record of Security dialogue box appears, click and then choose Firewall-Traffic.
4. The Firewall-Trafic list appears. Choose the items which need to be set, and click More Information.
5. After More Detailed page disappears, click in Option, choose Restrict and then click Apply.
6. Click [×] (Close) to close Record of Security History. The setting has completed.
