Why can't I create the emergency disk of VirusScan?

Why can't I create the emergency disk of VirusScan?

The message "Some of the required system files are missing. Please format the diskette with "Copy System Files" Option." appears during the operation of "Emergency Disk Wizard", and interrupts the creation of the emergency disk.

    (To reproduce the symptom)

E.g. VirusScan Ver.4.0.3a. (Note that the displays and messages vary depending on the versions of VirusScan.)

    1. Click [Start] -> [Programs] -> [McAfee VirusScan] -> [McAfee VirusScan Central].

    2. Click the [Tools] button on the [McAfee Virus Scan Central] window and click the [Emergency Disk] button.

    3. When the "Welcome to the McAfee Emergency Disk Creation Wizard" window appears, click [Next].

    4. When the message "Insert a blank high density diskette in drive A:" appears, insert a formatted (without checking the "Copy system files" option) floppy disk, check the "Don't format" box and click [Next].

    5. The following error message appears.
"Some of the required system files are missing. Please format the diskette with "Copy System Files" Option."

To resolve the problem, use a floppy disk to which system files are copied.

When you try to create an emergency disk using the floppy disk to which system files are not copied at the time of its formatting, the error message appears and you fail to create the emergency disk.

On the other hand, VirusScan Ver.4.0.3a allows you to create the emergency disk by formatting a floppy disk and by copying system files to it at the same time. To create the emergency disk with VirusScan Ver.4.0.3a, refer to the procedure below:

    (Procedure)

    1. Click [Start] -> [Programs] -> [McAfee VirusScan] -> [McAfee Virus Scan Central].

    2. Click the [Tools] button on the [McAfee VirusScan Central] window and click the [Emergency Disk] button.

    3. Click [Next] on the "Welcome to the McAfee Emergency Disk Creation Wizard" window.

    4. When the message "Insert a blank high density diskette in drive A:" appears, insert a floppy disk. Make sure that the "Don't format" box is unchecked and click [Next].

    5. On the "Format" window, turn on the checkbox of "Copy system files only". Click [Start] and operate the system in accordance with the instructions on the window.
