What types of file format can be used in Memory Stick Voice Editor Version 2.03?

The following are the types of file format that can be used in Memory Stick Voice Editor Version 2.03.

- MSV (LPEC) file (Memory Stick Voice file/file extension: *.msv)
This is the sound file format for the recorded messages on ICD-MS515. The sound data is compressed so that the size of the data is relatively small. MSV (LPEC) files can be edited and played back on Memory Stick Voice Editor 2, and written on the Memory Stick to be restored and played back on ICD-MS515.

- MSV (ADPCM) file (Memory Stick Voice file/file extension: *.msv)
This is the sound file format used for the recorded messages on ICD-MS1. MSV (ADPCM) files can be edited and played back on Memory Stick Voice Editor. However, these files can only be played back on ICD-MS515. Editing will not be possible. On Memory Stick Voice Editor 2, an MSV (ADPCM) file can be converted into an MSV (LPEC) file and can be written on the Memory Stick to be played back and edited on ICD-MS515.

- DVF file (Digital Voce File/file extension: *.dvf)
This is the sound file format used for the recorded messages on the Sony ICD-BP Series IC Recorder equipped with a USB port. DVF files can be edited and played back on both the Memory Stick Voice Editor and the Digital Voice Editor programs.
On Memory Stick Voice Editor 2, a DVF file can be converted into an MSV (LPEC) file and can be written on the Memory Stick to be played back on ICD-MS515.

- WAV file (8/11/16 kHz, 8/16 bit, monaural / 44.1kHz, 16bit, stereo wav file/file extension: *.wav)
This is a PCM 8/11/16 kHz, 8/16 bit monaural, or 44.1kHz, 16 bit stereo sound file used in the recorded sound in standard Windows application software. WAV file can be played back on Memory Stick Voice Editor and on Windows software such as Sound Recorder.
On Memory Stick Voice Editor 2, a 11/16/44.1kHz WAV file can be converted into an MSV (LPEC, SP), and a 8kHz WAV file can be converted into an MSV (LPEC, LP) file. These can be written on the Memory Stick to be played back on ICD-MS515.

- ICS file (Sony IC recorder Sound file/file extension: file extension: *.ics)
This is Sony's original sound file format used for the recorded messages on ICD-R100. Memory Stick Voice Editor 2 does not support ICS files. To use an ICS file with Memory Stick Voice Editor 2, convert the ICS file into a WAV file using a software compatible with the ICDS file format such as the Sony ICD-PCLINK software.

- MP3 file (MP3 file/file extension: *.mp3)
The MP3 file, short for MPEG-1 Layer 3 (Moving Pictures Expert Group), stores digital audio such as sounds or songs and is commonly used to distribute it over the Internet. The file is compressed with little loss in sound quality and can be played back using an MP3 player.
On Memory Stick Voice Editor 2, an MP3 file can be viewed in the PC message list, played back and attached to an e-mail message. To view an MP3 file, from the View menu, select and select the View MP3 Files checkbox. An MP3 file can also be converted into an MSV file and added to the Memory Stick.

Note: The above file types can be saved on the hard disk drive of the computer, be played back, edited or attached to an e-mail. These files can be also converted into each other's formats (some file conversion is not possible though).
