Why is there no display on the LCD screen and the LCD screen is very dark ?
Why does the LCD screen remain dark and nothing is displayed on it ? The system seems to be running. (The HDD access indicator and the power indicator is lighted up. Startup sound the machine can be heard.)
or
I can hardly see the LCD screen. This symptom starts at the point when the SONY logo appears.
First, check the items below.
* Check Items
1. Press Fn + F5 to adjust the brightness. The setting of the brightness may be preset to the lowest.
2. If the BIOS setup screen can be displayed, enter the BIOS setup and set all the BIOS settings back to the initial values.
3. Check and ensure that the computer is powered by the AC adapter.
* Note
The LCD screen may be darker during the battery operation when compared to an AC operation, due to the power management function of the computer.
4. If the computer supports the external monitor output function, do a quick display test by connecting the computer to an external monitor and check if there is anything displayed on the external monitor.
If the LCD screen is still dark or nothing is displayed, the LCD may be damaged. (The backlight may have burnt off, or there could be some other LCD problems.) You will need to return the computer to our service representative for their diagnosis and repair, if necessary.
