[Windows Vista] How to restore from backup files?
Files that are mistakenly erased, changed, or encountered data damage can be restored.
For information on ways to restore files, please see the below troubleshooting steps..
■ How to restore an individual file
1. Select Start and click Control Panel.
2. Select System and Maintenance and select Backup and Restore Center.
3. Click Restore files.
4. Select Files from the latest backup or Files from an older backup. Click the * symbol to select Files from the latest backup. Select Files from an older backup, and click Next to show the former detail backup information. Choose the related date and the backup file to be restored, and click Next.
5. Click the Create a new file button, followed by the Create a new folder option button, or click the Search button to create a new file or folder.
6. Display the new file or folder, and click OK. Then click Next.
7. Choose Original Position or Next Position. Click the * symbol to choose Original position.
The system will start to restore. When choosing Next Position, click the Reference button which will point out the save point. When choosing Restore to original Subfolder, it will be saved at a targetted place and named it as the name of Subfolder to produce a new folder, and the restored file will be saved. When choosing Produce the Driver Characters' Subfolder, it will create a folder which is also saved the drive’s name, and the restored file will be saved.
8. Click Finish.
■ How to restore the backup file created by another computer
Below demonstrates how to restore the files from the backup file for DVD-RW:
1. Insert the DVD-RW with the backup file into the DVD drive. Close Auto Play from the dialogue box.
2. Click Restore Detail.
3. After the User Account Control message is displayed, click the Continue button
* If the User Account Control message is not displayed, choose backup file made by another PC, and click the Next button.
4. Select the backup point you want to restore from, and click Next button. Choose Disc, CD or DVD (then inserted the CD, DVD or the linked Disc), choose DVD RW Driver.
5. Click the date and the backup file to restore and click the Next button.
6. Choose Restore all the content in the backup file, and click the Next button. Choose the restore point you want to restore the backup files from, and click add a new file, add a new folder button, or click the search button to add a new file or folder you want to restore from.
7. Choose Original Position or Next Position, and click the Restore button.
*When choosing Next Position, click the Reference button to point out the saving location.
When choosing Restore to original Subfolder, it will be saved at a pointed place and named as the name of Subfolder to produce a new folder, and the restored file will be saved here.
When choosing Produce the Driver Characters’ Subfolder, it will produce a folder which will also save the drive’s name, as well as the restored file will be saved here.
8. Click the Finish button
■How to restore the all backup files
1. Click Restore Detail.
2. After the User Account Control message is displayed, click the Continue button.
*If the User Account Control message is not displayed, choose Files from the latest backup produced by this PC or Files from an older backup produced by this PC, and click the Next button.
*Click here to choose Files from the latest backup produced by this PC. If Files from an older backup produced by this PC is selected, proceed to STEP 3.
3. Click the date and the backup file you want to restore and click the Next button
4. Choose Restore all the content in the backup file, and click the Next button
5. Choose Original position or the Next position, click the Restore button
*When choosing Next Position, click the Reference button to point out the save point
When choosing Restore to original Subfolder, it will be saved at a pointed place and named as the name of Subfolder to produce a new folder, here the restored file will be saved.
