Why do error messages such as MSIMN invalid page fault appear when opening the Outlook Express Ver.5.0 address book?

    The following error messages may appear when the address book is opened.

    Error Messages:
    - MSIMN caused an invalid page fault.
    - This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If it is not shut down, get in touch with the vendor of the program.

    - Outlook Express: Could not send the message. Disk area is in sufficient.

    These symptoms occur when the Folders.dbx file is missing or damaged, or when the read-only attribute is used.

    To avoid this symptom, please follow the steps below.
    1. Click Start, point to Search, and click For Files or Folders.
    2. In the File Name textbox, type folders.dbx.
    3. In the Look in box, select (C:) and click Search Now.
    4. Right-click the located file Folders.dbx and click Rename.
    5. Type folders.old and click OK.
    6. Restart Outlook Express.

    B. Error Message
    - MSIMN invalid page fault. Module: WAB32.DLL

    This symptom occurs when the Wab32.dll is damaged.

    To avoid this symptom, rename Address Book. Do not change the file extension.
    Note: The file name of Address Book is usually same as your logon name.

    When the extension of the file is not shown, disable theHide file extensions for known file types option with the steps below.
    1. Double-click My Computer, click Tools/b> and then click Folder Options.
    2. Click the View tab and unselect the Hide file extensions for known file types option.
    3. Click OK.

    Next, rename the address book using the steps below.
    1. Click Start, point to Search and click For Files or Folders.
    2. In the File Name textbox, type *.wab and click Search Now.
    * By default, the file is usually stored in C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book\
    3. Right-click the file and click Rename.
    * Do not change the extension of the *.wab file.
    4. Enter a new file name and press Enter.
    5. Start Outlook Express and open the Address Book. By doing so, a new Address Book is created.

    Lastly, import messages from the renamed *.wab file to the new Address Book.
    1. Start Outlook Express.
    2. Click File tab, point to Import and click Address Book.
    3. Select the renamed .wab file and click Open.
    4. When the Import Completed message appears, click OK.
