I bought the lens as a walk round do it all lens for my A7rIVA and A7rIIIA bodies and in most cases it fulfils it’s role. It’s nice to have the slightly wider angle for landscapes and the ability to give that telephoto range for when required., making it extremely versatile. The zooming action is reassuringly smooth and tight, eliminating lens creep and the size is relatively compact to carry around, but inevitably the lens is quite heavy, but reassuringly sturdy. Whilst inevitably not quite as sharp as separate 24-70 mm and 70 -200 mm lenses, the difference is only visible when zooming in very close and doesn’t stop me leaving the other 2 zoom lenses in the camera bag when I need to travel relatively light and compactness is required. Focusing is quick and lock is quick and accurate and stabilisation works well. The supplied lens hood is reversible for transportation. I would recommend this lens to anyone wanting a versatile one lens for most situations option

I bought this lens as an all around upgrade for my kit lens on a A6000. Fast forward a few years, this lens is my all around workhorse. Wide enough for landscape, crisp for portraits, and great clarity for those must capture moments from across the room at events. It’s now married to an A7rIII and for the price, I couldn’t be happier with this setup.

Bought this with a new FX6 camera. First job was to film a cycle race. Very fast auto focus and sharp images. Rock solid workhorse.

had this lense about one month now and find the picture qualitty excelent i have only one complaint it dosent have enough zoom

I had been looking for a super-zoom lens for a while mostly for the convenience of only having to carry the one lens and not having to stop and change lenses. This one is perfect for that. The range it offers is fantastic, plenty wide enough for most landscape shots and able to zoom right in for things in the distance as well. I don’t think there is anything else available for Sony full frame cameras with a wider range. While looking around I read a lot of reviews and was a bit concerned that some of them weren’t impressed with the image quality, but I haven’t found any problems. I do have some prime lenses that are sharper, but I find this one is plenty sharp enough for most normal situations and can even make some pleasant out of focus backgrounds when zoomed in. The auto focus also seems to work quickly and actually making the lens easy to use. The fact that the lens folds down when zoomed out helps to make it easier to carry, though it is a little on the heavy side.

Bought secondhand as an ideal travel lens. A reasonable size, not too heavy and good feel on an A7RV body. I'm a little disappointed with the image quality though. Having come from Nikon mirrorless, their 24-200 has much better image quality. Perhaps this lens is in need of a refresh.

I bought this lens about 5 years ago. Used for lot of my bird shoots but now I have 300mm to 600mm but it weights 7 pounds.

I bought this to have flexibility on travel with just 1 lens. On the whole it is an ok lens. My biggest difficulty is the minimum focusing distance.

I bought this lens to replace a faulty 28-70mm lens (I dropped it). Although this new one is heavier it means I rarely need to also take my 55-210mm lens with me when I go out as I now have this one lens covering the range of the other two. Even better - when fitted to my A7 it still fits into my shoulder bag.

雖坊間鮮有談及這支鏡，但確是一支一直被人忽略的便宜好鏡頭，尤其適合如我一般的入門初哥。很多初學者，因擔心街上換鏡，會不小心把鏡頭墜地，所以是很怕換鏡頭的。而它一支鏡，就已涵蓋了一般正常攝影所需的大部份焦距，可令用家由小至小廣角24mm至遠攝240mm，均不用不停換鏡。這亦對初時未必會大量投資購入不同鏡組的初學者們，去學習摸索不同焦距和構圖，是十分有幫助的。而且它是一支真正的「 天涯鏡」，雖然沒有很大的恆定光圈，但用於日常旅遊，紀錄生活，像一般「風光」、不太要求「散景」的「人像」應付有餘；遠攝端達240mm甚至勉強能用於遠攝生態，野生動物或雀鳥，和要低光圈天文攝影如影月亮等，真正可以「一鏡走天涯」。去外遊或不便帶太多鏡組時，也是「一機一鏡」的最佳選擇之一。雖為或有人覺得它略重，但對於持用驚人10倍變焦，而且還有oss光學防手震的鏡頭而言，7百多克其實不算太重，初哥習慣了它重量後，相信日後使用其他新一代輕便鏡頭時，反而感覺會更好...

Bought in May 2023 via John Lewis. Useful to have wide angle to Zoom all in one lense.

Love the 24 to 240 range, its the lense I use most all the time. Makes taking pictures in any situation, (close up or far away) easy with out needing to swap lenses or carry and extra body and lense.

This lens is perfect for general photography and I'd even happily use it as a back up for my wedding photography.

Good coverage not to heavy good overall lens good for landscape

I bought this as a general purpose lens I can take on holiday, its focal range is ideal. The picture quality is acceptable for the type of images I take whilst on vacation

BRILLIANT ALL AROUND LENS WITH FANTASTIC RESULTS; SHARP IMAGES ACROSS THE FOCAL LENGTH AN DGREAT COLOUR BALANCE.

I wanted a lens that covered a wide focal range, the FE 24-240mm does just that, it’s the right size and weight and compliments my A7 IV body perfectly. The operator is smooth, fast and pin sharp. My first outing was outside shooting at the longest focal range in overcast conditions, this did not phase the lens at all, the photo results have been excellent. This lens is competitively price, and is worth every penny. A great Sony lens.

After using it for around 3 months with a7c I give it a GIVE UP the lens. I compared it with the Tamxxx brand at 240m...Sony 24-240 is less sharp, more heavy to use. Despite the construction material is of high quality. At present stage of technology to overcome the distance of coverage with less weight convenience to travel. Sony should consider 24 - 200 with less weight or buyer should consider fix lens (like 35m F1.8) with high resolution camera (A7R4) to take pictures with clear image zoom to cover the distance.

Lens is well made and has a “quality” feel and does the job admirably with expected limitations of a superzoom

I ummed and erred for a long while before buying this lens. I read many not so good reviews, in the end the incredible versatility was what pursueded me. I can carry one lens and cover a huge range of focal lengths, no swapping lenses at awkward moments or in difficult places - it allows me to concentrate on the task at hand, taking photos. The picture quality for an oppertunistic photographer is very good, more than acceptable. If you have the intent of "setting up" a photo, this is not your lenses, but if you you are out walking and want the option to take any photo, it is brilliant.

Coming to Sony from Nikon thisnis the perfect replacement for the nikkor 18-200 (crop) rock solid, good to focus creep and happy in the lake district shooting landscape or in Soho shooting streets. The first lens on your kit list.

At this stage in my ownership of this lens I can say in auto mode the pictures are pretty good. I feel they will be better using manual settings but I have not yet tried them, hence a part review.

As I have upgraded to Sony from Canon I needed a travel lens and this fits the bill.

This is a great 'all-in-one' lens which takes great pix. However, there are two 'faults' (ignoring the fact that it is expensive!). They are: i) Weight - this is a heavy lens. On my A7II the combination is pretty hefty. I might point out that I am big bloke, so this is not such an issue, but for someone of lighter stature this MAY prove to be a problem; ii) On my example, the zoom ring rubber is a horrible mottled grey/black colour combination, looks almost like it is perished. The rear ring is pure black (as you would expect). I'm still considering a warranty repair claim - I presume this is a one-off occurence. This was NOT a grey import, but sourced new from a major UK retailer. A lovely lens, then, but may not be suited to everybody. If you don't mind the weight, the other issue may not bother you, in which case I would recommend it.

The product is great in terms of versatility, giving an excellent range from wide to telephoto. For the 6000 series this represents an effective 36-360mm. The build quality of the lens is very good and feels pretty robust, with the only downside being the zoom ring. It is so tight, that when you change direction of turn the lens will move slightly on the mount. I have tried other copies of the lens and this was consistent across multiple lenses. For me this was a deal breaker as I found the effort required to adjust zoom was causing camera shake, particularly when zoomed in to the 200-240 mm range. I would advise trying this at a retail store to make sure you are OK with the zoom ring before purchase. Image quality is very good, though there is some loss of sharpness particularly in the corners at both ends of the zoom range. Overall a good lens, if you are OK with the stiff zoom ring.

I bought this to give me lens to use when walking. Have also found it great fo weddings, presentations and racing. Saves having to carry several lenses and having to change lenses

Had to sell it after a couple of months. Not sharp at all, and slow to focus. Went for the Tamron 28-200mm instead as very sharp and smaller/lighter. Sorry SONY, this lens is definitely not worth the money.

I have purchased 3 of these lenses. I use them for two-camera shoots as well as for everyday good-to-go lenses. A bit less sharp on the edges, but coupled with the a1, well it does what I would expect and I am very satisfied. Not a G-lens, but good results.

Moving from the A68 to A7II, this was an ideal lens for a travel kit. Great build quality, clear image quality, and easy to handle.

I’ve been searching for a single lens solution to cover landscape, family, air shows and general travel for some years. Coupled with the A7Riii I now have the answer, no more swopping lenses and the resolution for cropping heavily to mimic a longer zoom lens without the weight and bulk.

期待已久的鏡頭，一镜可走天涯，十分實用的鏡頭，性價比高，值得向人推介，畫質可應付日常攝影的要求，令人感到滿意。

Unless I'm going out specifically taking wildlife photos, this lens has all the range I generally need - 1 lens means less weight, no changing & greater chance of getting that fleeting opportunistic shot. I am very happy with image quality, build and size. Go on, get one - I'm sure you won't look back.

Unable to use the image transfer software, remote operation by phone and also get firmware upgrades as unbelievably this product is not compatible with the biggest desktop operating system in the world

Purchased this a month ago and am astonished by the results, very sharp overall, smooth zoom action , an ideal every day lens

This lens is suitable for a range of uses. It's versatility eliminates the need for multiple lenses. It is ideal for travelling.

My last zoom lens was a DT 18-250 mm standard zoom, and when fully extended would have some light flare and poor resolution. I have found this FE 24-240 full frame lens to have better clarity at full extension making for better enlargements. It weigh-in 7 oz more and worth the weight.

I bought this lens and a Sony A7ii in March 2019. I found it ideal for travel photography where you need such a range without need to swap lenses. Bring able to switch from wide angle landscape to telephoto wildlife is idea!. Without this lens many shots would have been missed. The only poor pictures out of the 4000 I have been taken are due to me!

I took the First Quarter Moon last night, the lens was fantastic, I couldn't believe i took it without a tripod and the pictures came out to be great!

I bought this lens at expensive price assuming Sony lens reputation is excellent. However this lens falls far short of my expectations. Firstly the focusing ability is not quick. I need to constantly zoom out and then zoom in slowly for live action shots. By this time the special event was missed. Secondly, the zoom at full zoom 240mm results in pixels which are slightly blurry and not pixel sharp. This occurs even when I’m shooting 20 ft away and for objects 300 ft away. For a lens that costs four figures I expected much better. Lastly this lens doesn’t have a AF/MF (manual focus) switch. It’s too late for me to return the product to seller. Wish Sony had some firmware upgrade or customer return policy.

I bought this as a gamble as I wanted to have a lens that would cover a wide focal range for my motorsport shooting. I have been shooting MS for over 10 years now and during that time I have worked my way up in my equipment. I started out with Nikon and over the years built myself up to pro spec glass across all focal lengths (including a 500mm F4) but early last year I decided to move to Sony for MS (I had already made the jump to Sony for my landscape work in 2016) and have not looked back. I have two A9 bodies and got the amazing 200–600mm at the start of the year that blew me away. I wanted something that would cover the lower focal length and to have the lightest possible bag to carry around the track. If you had asked me a couple of years ago to consider what is essentially a fancy kit lens for what I do I would have laughed but I took the leap having read a couple of reviews and I am more than happy. The lens is used for panning and nothing else and for that purpose it serves me very well (bearing in mind that I’m using it on an A9). I am sure that if I was using a 70-200mm 2.8 (which I had in my Nikon setup) there would be slightly more punch and sharpness to the image but the weight gain would negate it for me. If there are any negatives I would say that having a steady shot switch would be a bonus (leave it switched off in the camera menu if you are panning) and I wish that the zooming action was smoother but that’s about it! I am coming back from a days shooting with so many more keepers than I used to with my Nikon set up and have probably lost half of the weight (maybe more), which matters a lot when you are at a race track. I find myself wondering around more as everything is in one rucksack and easy to carry. As I said, I am a happy bunny.

THIS IS A FINE LENS, ONLY NIGGLE IS A BIT OF PLAY HAS DEVLOPED ON THE ZOOM RING AND THE LENS IS ONLY A MONTH OLD

bought this at the beginning of March and from the moment I took it out the box I knew I had bought a quality product. Felt amazingly sturdy and compact. For a trail run I took it down to the local fish quay to get birds in flight. The focus was extremely fast, the zoom was smooth and silent and the size made it easy to point.

I bought this lens for a trip to Costa Rica. Whilst I would have liked a longer reach; size, weight and practicalities meant I chose this lens. Great advantage being able to take landscape shots and close ups of wildlife without having to change lenses in humid conditions.. V pleased with my photos.

This is my first and only lens for my new Sony Alpha 7 mk2. Took it with me to Costa Rica to take wild life photos and was so glad I did. Most photos were taken on full zoom and I had to use the manual focus so that animals were in focus instead of the leaves and branches in front / behind. The lens makes this much easier with the focus ring. Lens is not suitable for close up macro photos, although if you step back and zoom in you can still create macro shots with a very steady hand or tripod. Portrait photos are also gray with this lens. A good all rounder, particularly useful for beginners like me.

Bought this a couple of weeks ago to kind of replace my 2870-brilliant!

I bought this lens together with the A7R3 a few months ago and brought it along for my immediate trip to Sichuan then. Love the Aperture range of f3.5 ~ f6.3 built for a decent zoom range between 24-240mm. It is quite a versatile E-mount lens and suitable for landscapes and street photography genres. If only that the wide Aperture can be widened to f2.8 at 24mm, it would be a perfect all-rounder! On the downside, I reckon the lens a little heavy for me to lug around all days in the mountains and city streets though.

I’ve only had this one month, I really like it so far. I’m looking forward to using this on my travels this year and learning to use it and see what photos I can get and how much I can improve my photography skills.

Beautiful lens on my A7 and powerful on my A6400 ... yipee

Sorry, I actually returned this lens, unless I used F.8, 11+. It was just too soft for my taste

Very impressed by the quality of the images and the versatility of the lens. I use my Sony a6300 mainly on holiday and it's a joy to be able to have one lens for all types of shot, whether it's landscape, portrait or anything else. It can feel a bit bulky when compared to the size of the a6300 but I quickly got used to it and don't find that it has hampered me.

I brought this before heading for my Chiba trip, am happy with it. Light Wt, good price.

Having one lens cover such a distance eliminates changing lenses in the field.

bought the as my lens late August and is nicely balanced with the body and will be great for travelling I do a lot of long haul travels so keeping weight down is key , the lens operates smoothly and have had some great photos so far.

焦段廣 (24-240mm)、重量尚可(配a7s約1200g)、發色中規中矩；惟遠端對焦略慢(可能配上新型號如a73可改善)、變焦環真的很緊 (建議下次改用變焦鎖)

I have been asked to review this lens far too soon and have not yet had the opportunity to have a good session with it. So far though with the shots I’ve taken I’ve been very happy. Nice and sharp.
