I agonized, at the time, in getting Sony's GM lens. This seemed to be a lens with great optics. I have used it for some time. My only beef is that Sony, when the new/er 24-70 f2.8 II was released, there was no contact to incentivize and help purchase the newer model. That would have been SO helpful as I cannot turn around and simply buy another.

I bought this lens for my Sony A7Riv and glad I did. This lens is expensive, but if you want a perfect walk-around street lens,this is it. It is on my A7Riv 80% of the time. Colors are natural, distortion minimal and the f2.8 is handy at dusk and after dark. Like all premium 24-70 lenses, it is heavy, but you expect that. Strongly recommend this lens.

good lens paired with terrible customer service leaves me somewhat disenchanted with the whole experience. Problems had were solved but not by SONY. youtube is your best friend here so please be advised.

Probably the single most versatile lens on the market. It’s pricey but if you want the best, this is it. I absolutely love it.

Could take any kind of photo whether landscape or portrait. And also the video quality is perfect, with focus on.

pictures are clear. This is my go to for almost everything. A little heavy, but worth it.

Phenomenal piece of glass! Mostly a fast prime enthusiast, I did not expect lo like the 24-70mm GMII this much. Super Sharp and contrasty with flexibility for composition. Feels significantly smaller and lighter than version I.

I recently purchased an FX3 camera and was going back and forth on which lens to buy as my first variable zoom. I knew that whichever one I bought would bear the bulk of my work in the near future. The competitor was half the price so it was tempting. I was saving and finally just decided that I would grab the Sony because it was designed to mate with the camera perfectly. The features are very well thought out and allow me to change things on the fly very quickly (and efficiently) without compromising the shot. Very happy with this lens. The picture quality is the best I’ve captured.

I wanted the Sony 24-70mm f/2.8 lens for a rather specific purpose: to take pictures indoors without flash. Yes this lens takes good pictures indoors and maybe good for things like weddings when you are close to people. However, now I take many different type of pictures and I find the a 24-70mm lens may not be the best lens to have with it’s limits. Today’s cameras allow for high IOS, for more latitude in magnification, I have used a Sony 24-240mm and gotten a acceptable indoors. So I am sorry, but a 24-70mm lens may not be for me.

This lens being one of the first G Master lenses on the market still holds up really well. Whenever someone asks "What lens is the best overall lens?" That's easy This one. 24-70 gives you great reach and decent width. Can't go wrong. Any issues I could say about it have been addressed in the new model 2.

I was so excited to get this lens but it intermittently tells me the lens is not attached correctly and won't focus. Everything is clean and new I don't understand. It works fine for hours, then out of the blue it wont focus and gets super dark. It's getting worse and now im afraid to even take it on a shoot. Super bummed.

I have owned the lens for about 1-1/2 months. I have used it for a high-density Christmas in July Party. (5) Paid and (2) Volunteer Events. Because the Sony A7IV has more than enough latitude, the 2.8 f-Stop was not of concern.

This is one of the best lens , easy to carry sharpness is best to noon The zoom aspect is fantastic because of video shooting

This G Master lens is the best I have owned and I have been a keen hobbyist photographer for over 40 years. If any image is not pin sharp, it is because I have done something wrong. I am genuinely delighted with it.

I don't like large mid range zooms, which extend in size when zooming! I much prefer zooms with internal focusing. However, the quality of the images is incredible, starting from the full aperture. On few occasions I didn't think that closing the aperture could improve the sharpness of the images, only to find that it goes to another level when closed down by just one stop. Zoom is disproportionate in size to the compact form facto of the cameras, and requires battery grip for comfortable use. The colour and out of focus areas rendering is excellent.

I bought a brand new 24-70 2.8 gmaster, my first sony “professional” lens and it broke on me at work. Five months after buying it, and something like the third or fourth time I was using it for work, It broke leaving the metal barrel inside de camera and the lens body going to the floor. I managed to kind of catch it but it still hit the floor. I tried to assemble it to continue to work but two screws that holds the barrel were broken and I think also some flex, so the camera did not recognize it. I send it for warranty repair and they evaluated it and said it will not be covered because it had an impact and they will charge me something like a third of the lens value for the repair or a high value for a diagnostic fee. After explaining several times that the lens was defective and that it broke while I was using it causing the fall, they made me pay for repairs. Apparently the warranty is void if there is an impact, irregardless of the circumstances. I paid for the repairs, but its been over a month and it is still not ready. As soon as I get it back I will sell it and all my other sony gear because I can’t trust their equipment for my professional work.

This is a very nice lens. I’ve only played with it a little bit, but I’m very pleased with the photos. The color looks great and pics are sharp and clear.

I bought this lens about a month ago and I have used it for various purposes from food photography to portrait photography. It’s a very versatile lens which can be used for many purposes. It’s 24 focal length makes it a good lens for landscape photography. It’s low aperture makes it an excellent lens for low light and portrait photography. The photos are very clear

100% happy with sony and strongly recommend to everyone

The 24-70 GMaster 2.8 lens is bulky but I can live with that. What I can't live with is how grainy and not sharp all of my shots are coming out! I have the 24-70 G Zeiss and love it. Maybe there's something wrong with it. Software was up to date. Needs steady shot!

I love the autofocus speed (when not zooming) and flare resistance is good too (using on a9 body). It always loses focus while zooming though, which a big downside. Also, the plastic rails inside the lens broke without any significant impact which never happened with any of my GM lenses. Costumer service refused to send me a new hood (the lens is still under warranty) because it was considered physical damage. It was disappointing because I've been using Sony cameras professionally since 2012. If you consider buying a standard zoom lens, I would recommend Sigma 24-70 2.8 instead.

Easy to use, autofocus is amazing! So so versatile and has amazing image quality!

Very good lens for both video and stills nice and sharp quick focus on a7iii which I use on great for events and weddings.

The Sony FE 24-70mm f2.8 GM is a zoom lens for its full-frame Alpha mirrorless cameras. The wide to short telephoto range and bright f2.8 focal ratio make it ideal for general-purpose use including portraits, event and wedding photography. As with most Sony lenses, this lens relies on the camera body to provide image stabilization. Plus it has a customisable button which can be assigned various functions like AF-Lock. The Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM has a wide and ridged focus ring. Manual focusing is possible by using the dedicated AF/MF switch to toggle between AF and MF. I am impressed with its amazing sharpness

If you only want to buy 1 lens for the rest of your life then this is the one. My only negative is that this lens is quite heavy but the again compared to what exactly?

Bought the lens several months ago and wow its very much like the ES Hi Fi products I used to sell. the build quality is exemplary and stunning quality with ease of use

This is my go-to lens for most of the time, inspite beeing large and heavy. Fast, sharp and quick, those features inevietably go hand in hand with high price, size and weight tags. I will be very frustrated without it.

The Sony FE 24-70 mm f2.8 GM lens is sharp as a tack and distortion-free. The focal length range makes it very useful in everyday situations. A great lens!

Really pleased with initial results looking forward to my cash back claim

I got this lens few weeks ago. I didnot wanted to jump the gun before I use it. Now I am fully satisfied I call it GENUINE MASTERS Lens. Lets start from design, it got solid make , big 77mm glass lets a lot of light to squeeze in which is further streamed with row of mighty lenses. Its extremly sharp. Colour production is genuine. Its so so accurate that you can use it for portrait even. Now light phography is at ease. Focus remains still fast but you may need a bit of adjustment depending upon your mode of shooting. In my opinion if you can afford just buy it. It compliments your vision and ideology of perfection. NOTE : SONY WHY I CAN’t UPLOAD PIC. Man Ur product would have got stamp of authority with my pic. But I cant upload.

Nice full daytime clips without crazy distortions. The bokeh is awesome throughout the zoom range. Night shots were made in heaven when manually focused in a stationary setting.

this is my 4th Sony G lenses, it is the one i was missing for a ling time. happy to have it and i will start having fun with it.

Matched up with an a7Riv gives it excellent results fully exploiting the sensor resolution of the camera.

Perfectly suited to the a7r4 and has been fully used for last few weeks

Heavy lens, built like a tank ... ready for battle.

together with the FE2.8/70-200 and x2 converter matched with the 7R111 I think I have a good setup

I am happy and impress with the 2.8 in Low light and indoor photography , quite heavy though

This is my first lens in the GM Series, I've only used it a few times, but the quality of the lens is outstanding, however I do own other Sony Lenses as well. This GM Lens can be used for the following: Video Food Real Estate 'Interior & Exterior' Weddings Landscapes Astro Headshots Events Sony has a lot of lenses for the type of work you do, but this one Sony 24-70mm F2.8 GM is one of the best lens you can have in your bag, that will cover the most type of work you're doing and/or something new that you wanna get into. This lens is a bit heavy, but I don't mind that at all, the only reason why I'm even mentioning it is because I use a Gimbal and would like other Gimbal users to know that, especially for the ones who are looking to buy this lens and are doing their research. This lens will work on a gimbal, but you'd have to decide at what focal length you're gonna be at, because you'd need to balance it. If you can afford it through finance, then you should. This lens won't disappoint you. I hope this review helps you in deciding if you should or shouldn't go for this lens, but once again this lens will cover the type of work you're currently doing at the moment. I've given this GM Lens a 10/10 Score. HAPPY SHOOTING :-)

This lens is amazing. The optical quality is one of the best I've ever seen, and with such a fast lens you can get perfect portraits.

High Quality product that prior to lockdown I used in the studio where it provided excellent quality...

It’s versatile. It can be carried alone without other lens. Portrait photo can be taken using 70 mm. Panorama view can be taken with 24 mm.

I bought the lens a year ago and am very satisfied. Its my to go lens at any event

I brought it for little over a year. Only use few times. And it had problem with connecting to Camaro. Because it was over the warranty time. Cost me over 700 to repair it.

I could not be happier with the images from this lens. Sony, it's a real winner

Cons are: 1.Weight issue 2.Sharpness weaker than Zeiss same focal lgth. Peculiar! Maybe insufficient test shots. 3.Good locking feature.
