Perfect for my FX3A in getting that tight angle shots when i need it. The creamy bokeh as well as the GMaster clarity is evident in every shot. Definitely should be a part of your lens bag.

Bought the lens a few weeks ago for my European trip. Purposely use the 24 mm focal length and find it very suitable for general travel photography. The lens is sharp wide open, and light. Good match for my alpha 7R5. Overall very please with the lens performance. Highly recommended

24GM f1.4 出咗都有8年? 一直用16-35mm GM, 由1代换到2代, 一直都覺得想買多一枝定焦(24GM or 35GM), 幾個星期前終於決定入手24GM, 因為1.4光圈真係無可取代, 而24mm (主要用24mm-28mm影食物) 亦用得多過35mm, 所以揀咗24GM。喺室內唔夠光既環境, 而又唔適合用閃燈既情況下, f1.4真係好物, 比f2.8好用太多。雖然係算係年代比較久遠既鏡頭, 以前既技術同近年出既鏡頭係有一定程度既差別, 例如紫邊會比較明顯, 例如鏡身只有一粒功能按鍵, 但整體用落仍然非常好用, 依家買絕對係CP值非常高的一枝鏡

Crystal clear and fast. Great lens for all occasions

Very Good Lens it my life more easier instead using of 24-70 on gamble

Been using the lens for a month. very nice. very suitable for my cinematic work for commercial or hobby. dont know if it's my unit or is just general all unit like this, I found the focus on this lens is a bit hesitate and slow. and clearly i can notice the focus sound. Planed to take it to check up.

I have moved to Sony shooting mainly night & low light Astro photography. The 24 f1.4 GM is a total game changer that has taken my Aurora and MilkyWay photography to a new level. This lens is mounted to my Sony A7R 4A the 24mm f1.4 GM delivers above and beyond all expectations the detail from corner to corner is fantastic the best I have ever used. I have not seen any Chromatic aberrations, Coma, vignetting, this lens keeps on Giving outstand images no matter what I point it at.

I purchased this used and it looks mint apart from the serial number stickers that are peeling off. Otherwise a great lens so far.

A brilliant wide sharp lens that’s small and light whilst having excellent build quality, very impressed!

I use this for astro a lot. I use it on my full frame camera and switch to ASP-C mode for street, giving me an about 38mm equivalency. Excellent Bokeh. great colors and always sharp as a whistle.

If you want the most clarity, definition and sharpness when wide open but fast too - this is YOUR GUY.

I have been using this lens for a few weeks now and I am very impressed by its performance and quality. It is a fast, sharp, and compact wide-angle prime lens that delivers stunning images on the sony a7III. The lens is very well built, with a metal barrel, a rubberized focus ring, and a manual aperture ring that can be de-clicked for smooth transitions. It also has a focus hold button, a focus mode switch, and a lockable lens hood. The lens is weather-sealed and dust-resistant, which is great for outdoor shooting. The autofocus is fast, silent, and accurate, thanks to the direct drive SSM (Super Sonic wave Motor) system. The lens works well with the sony a7III’s eye AF and tracking modes, and I had no issues with focus hunting or missed shots. The manual focus is also smooth and precise, with a linear response and a good amount of resistance. The image quality is superb, with excellent sharpness, contrast, and color rendition. The lens resolves a lot of detail on the 24-megapixel sensor of the sony a7III, even at the widest aperture of f/1.4. The lens also has very low distortion, chromatic aberration, and coma, thanks to the advanced optical design that features two XA (extreme aspherical) elements, three ED (extra-low dispersion) elements, and a Nano AR coating. The lens produces beautiful bokeh, with smooth and circular out-of-focus highlights, thanks to the 11-blade circular aperture. The lens also has a very shallow depth of field at f/1.4, which allows for creative isolation of the subject from the background. The lens also handles flare and ghosting very well, even when shooting against the sun or bright lights. The lens is very versatile, as it can be used for a variety of genres, such as landscapes, street, portraits, weddings, astrophotography, and more. The 24mm focal length is wide enough to capture a lot of the scene, but not too wide to cause distortion or perspective issues. The f/1.4 aperture is ideal for low-light situations, as well as for creating a dramatic effect with the background blur. The lens is also very compact and lightweight, weighing only 445 g (0.98 lb), which makes it easy to carry around and balance on the sony a7III. The lens is much smaller and lighter than the Sigma 24mm F1.4 Art lens, which weighs 665 g (1.47 lb) and is 90 mm (3.55 in) long, compared to the Sony’s 75.4 mm (2.97 in) length1. The only downside of this lens is the high price, which is $1,398 at the time of writing2. This is a premium lens that comes with a premium price tag, but I think it is worth it for the quality and performance that it delivers. This is one of the best wide-angle prime lenses that I have ever used, and I highly recommend it to anyone who owns a sony a7III or any other full-frame Sony mirrorless camera.

Well built and packaged. Expensive, but very versatile lens.

24 mm G Master : tack sharp , wide angle helps me get it all in one shot. Combined with Sony’s G master quality, this lens is thought to beat.

A sharp lens but there is a far bit of distortion which is rather for a lend this expensive.

Love this lens for Landscapes, Architecture, Enviornmental Portraits & Astrophotography.

Really wanted to love this lens as I've wanted a faster prime than the sigma 14-24 I've been using, and at 24mm it definitely performs better in terms of sharpness and quality to the edges of the frame than both the sigma and the sony 24-105mm. However, I bought this lens explicitly for using wider apertures and at f1.4 to f2.0 the chromatic aberration is the worst I've experienced and feels disappointing from a lens in the GM category. I contacted customer support and the impression I got was the lens was functioning as well as it could - based on my experience if you're in the market for this I'd perhaps consider the Sony 20mm f1.8 or the Sigma 24mm prime instead!

24mm is my favourite wide angle focal length. And now with the 1.4 aperture, it gives me the bokeh that I could never achieve before when I was on a 24.70 F2.8 GM. Furthermore, I'm on a gimble and the weight reduction is an extra advantage.

I would normally shoot video and have been using the 24-70 GM11 and recently purchased the 70-200 GM11 as I am travelling in 2023. I also have a 35mm prime and contemplated a wider lens and perhaps it may give me better angles in production. I ordered the 24mm 1.4 from Amazon. Really pleased with the service and shipping and when I started to use the lens and WOW I was so pleased with the results in video and have started to explore photography. I know it is not all about the gear but the 24mm lens is amazing.

bought this over couple of weeks and been using it during my Bhutan trip, Best 24mm lens i used and never regret on the upgrade

A beautiful wide lens for low light, feels sharper than my 24mm-70mm G master zoom.

This lens is sharp, bright and has a good contrast for landscape and architectures. It sometimes struggle for eye focus in shooting people perhaps because of the wide coverage. Overall well done.

I bought this lens about a month ago. The lens is great however i did have problems trying to get my cashback on it. It was hard work.,

I wanted to get a prime lense for both video and photos. Since I upgraded from a APSC Sony and used Zeiss lenses before, I felt that I should go straight to a GM lense instead of settling for a G lense. I was not disappointed. The clarity is unbelievable compared with my old Zeiss lense. What was more amazing was the rapid focusing capabilities of the lense.Pairing this lense with the A7M4 makes it such a complete package for my needs. If you are hunting for a prime lense, save up for this. It is a worthwhile investment.

Was slightly unsure about the high cost but really pleased I made the leap. Picture quality is excellent. The size and weight is a perfect match for the A7

I wasn’t sure about whether it was worth spending the money on the 24mm f1.4 GM lens. Having used it for a couple of weeks I am really delighted with the lens. Love the sharpness, love the autofocus performance. It is very light for a F1.4 lens. There is a bit of flaring when shooting into the sun could but I think Sony have made all the right trade offs with this lens. I couldn’t be happier with it. This is my first GM lens. I suspect it may not be my last.

I saw photo sample by this lens and this is what I expected!

I bought this lens on Xmas Eve just as the store was closing. At 5 on Xmas morning found myself on a cold dark hill just south of Edinburgh with my Sony A7III and this lens. Initial results were underwhelming. I was trying for full manual control on windy hill with a light tripod. When I came home and uploaded to my laptop i found that the pictures were better than i had thought. Not my best, but as my first use passable. I've been out a few times since and I'm getting more used to the lens and getting better results. I still want to see what happens when I use this for astrophotography, but the weather hasn't been right for that- full cloud, no stars.

整體表現好出色 顏色及銳利度都好好 支鏡又輕便 很好用 另外帶一支 50mm f1.2 基本上大部分嘅題材都可以影到

Bought this lens recently and paired it with my Sony alpha 7c. Took some day and night shots and very happy with the results. Love the bokeh and excellent in low light condition. Took all the shots without a tripod and with natural light.

Great lens! Absolutely love it! Makes close up photography starving.

I've been travelling and shooting with this lens about a month, done some portraits, landscape, foods. All I can say is the focal length is just perfect for a person who only want to travel with 1 lens to minimize your carry.

I purchased the Sony 24/1.4 GM at the very end of 2020. I had been deliberating on the 20/1.8 vs the 24/1.4 for some time & not really getting anywhere with the decision. in the last few days of 2020 Sony had a cashback program running plus there was a shop based sale - the double discount prompted me to make a purchase. I have many older, manual focus 'classic' lenses, that I adapt to modern cameras. I enjoy doing astrophotography & nightscapes. most older wide angle lenses I've tried on the night sky do not work that well, giving mis-shapen stars off the central axis, so that was one of the drivers I had for getting one of the Sony wide angles which have a good reputation for use on the night sky. I went for the 24 over the 20 for two reasons. 1) the f1.4 on the 24 being of value for night use, 2) In landscapes, over the years I've had a preference around for 24mm - I used a 17-35 zoom for a number of years & often found the wider end 'too wide' - its not the field of view you get, its the 'balance' of the relative size of objects with a scene foreground to far distance. Around 17mm I personally found the far distant vistas were so small & insignificant that they were lost in the image....it was all about foreground interest, which didn't suit me so well. around 24mm I personally find that you get the dramatic perspective a wide angle gives (28mm doesn't do it enough for me) while the distance is still big enough in the image to be appreciated. It's just a personal taste thing I guess. So that is why I ended up with the 24 & not the 20 (hold that thought) Because of my love of older lenses, & the various restrictions that we have put up with in 2021 its fair to say I've not really used the 24GM sufficiently yet to really comment on its optical performance, from what I have seen myself & read about, its essentially optically 'perfect' for all intents & purposes (which to an old lens lover, I see as a pro & a con). It's a nice size, quite light, AF on recent Sony cameras is as you would expect, fantastic...although, I personally don't really value AF that highly on a wide angle lens. I like that it has the ability to declick the aperture, I like the provision of a button on the lens. It has a modest 67mm filter thread (I use the Lee Filter 100 system so the adapter I use makes the front much wider though) . I deducted one star on the 'design' because compared to my older lenses I use alot, it feels obviously 'plasticy' vs the all metal solid construction on older lenses. I generally prefer older manual focus lenses for anything below a short telephoto because I just know the electronics in modern lenses is going to pack up within 20 years & be uneconomical to repair...older lenses just go on & on & on. More than this though, most modern lenses drop in value instantly & continue to drop. older 'classic' lenses on the other hand are appreciating, some crazily so. It feels better for me to put my money into those than modern lenses in most cases. Also, the older lenses that have become 'classics' (& therefore more sought after, driving costs up), tend to have optical 'flaws' that give them character, that is 'prized' by some in certain uses. most modern lenses are all technically 'perfect' & lack character...hence my personal preference to older lenses. Now, recall I mention 'hold that thought' above? Well during 2021 I ended up with a Sony A7S3 which among other things, I've been using as a handheld vlogging camera. I found the 24mm on the camera in this use case to not be quite wide enough, especially with the stablisation on which crops the image slightly. So, when the opportunity arose mid 2021 for get the Sony 20/1.8 on another 'double discount', I took the plunge. The 20 on the A7S3 is perfect for handhold vlogging, being both wider field of view AND smaller & lighter, so if that figures in your use case, go for the 20 over the 24, both are excellent. As the nights are drawing in now in the northern hemisphere, I do hope to get out with both the 24 & 20 & put them to the test under the night sky to see which I prefer for this type of usage. Now I am just waiting for a double discount deal on the new 14mm & I will be set!

I bought this lens over a year ago and I have to say I am impressed with the image quality, autofocus and built quality. Worth it.

Excellent image quality, built quality and AF speed, while keeping it relatively lightweight and compact. However, LoCA (bokeh CA) is quite visible when wide open at f1.4, but pretty much disappears when stopped down to f1.8 or f2. Wish the MFD could be shorter though. Plus, the hood is a bit thin and sharp, would be better if it's made rounder and thicker, or have rubberized edges.

First Sony lens I’ve brought in my life over 30 years photography what a beautiful piece of engineering so beautiful to behold the size is incredible the sheer quality of the images is sublime a true lens to keep for years brought for landscapes but so useful for so many projects just simply outstanding

I bought this lense about 3 weeks ago. I was really hoping that this lense is that good how good people ar talking. And it is!

I bought a few month ago. I really like this 24mm F1.4 GM lens do a b-roll shot for my videography.

Serious vignetting at high aperture. This happens with both my Sony a7riv and my new Sony alpha a1

I recently switched to Sony full-frame cameras, and bought this lens at the same time as I bought the A7Riii. I LOVE this lens. I shoot a lot of wildlife, and often have a long zoom on my camera, but when I want wide angle, this is THE lens. It's sharp, it's great in low light, and even with the 24mm field of view, you can still get a shallow depth of field.

Nice little lens with excellent sharpness, no regrets owning this.

Essential lens for videography. It’s simply the gold standard.

I'm not sure whether I got a bad copy - will need to contact Sony for investigation or possible warranty. Leaving this review here in case someone shares the same issues. From YouTube reviews, it seems that people usually love this lens for its good overall performance including with autofocus as well. My current unit, and with the latest firmware as of November 2020, focus hunts and fail to be in focus like it's not close to being a native lens. I have a Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN lens that is decisive and accurate in getting focus within the first click of a shutter, or when left to perform by itself decisively on auto-focus. However, my present unit of Sony 24mm *GM* f/1.4 lens couldn't perform close to it. By that - this is on the latest Sony a7S III, I meant having the autofocus tracking box on screen locked on, but my Sony GM f/1.4 lens still fails to get focus even after 5-15 seconds on AF Focus Transition Speed at 5 and AF Subject Shift Sensitivity at 5. I mentioned up till 15 seconds only because by then, I'd have to move around and re-adjust my position to hopefully gain focus by holding on the shutter and re-clicking focus points on-screen multiple times. Under normal day-light circumstances, it'd also focus pulse randomly while shooting video, causing unusable footages. This is not an acceptable circumstance for a GM lens, but after having it for about 2 months and used it on 3 shootings with the a7S III, it has never failed to focus pulse randomly while recording video each time. Will have to reach out to Sony to get this investigated.

Purchased this lens 10 months ago and have shot a few thousand photos through it. I’ve done everything from landscape, portrait, food, auto, product, and astro photography with it. I love the sharpness and the phenomenal depth of field. As with any wide angle lens, you have to beware of odd angles especially when doing portrait photography.

Amazing autofocus performance, great in low light and beautiful creamy bokeh. I didn't expect to fall in love with this lens but it proved me wrong!

This lens was the first that I purchased for my Sony A7S III. It made a short list as the reviews were all very positive. After receiving my unit i understood why. This wide and fast lens is versatile, clean while not being sterile. It has character while producing excellent image quality. It’s a must have for any full frame Sony shooter.

This lens is so small for a F1.4. it is light weight. Distortion was minimal. using this to shoot at night, sometimes u can even use ISO200. I like the aprture ring too!! It is amazing!! I hope there are more small GM lenses with F1.4 aperture like.

There is nothing thing I can add that hasn’t already been said - this truly is a brilliant lens.

最值得一讚的一支GM鏡，小巧而近乎沒有在光學質素上打折扣，在這焦距能做到這散景實在非常不錯（影全身人像帶景亦能做到），鏡頭67mm口徑但做出來是邊位光點口徑蝕超低，讚。期待小巧版35、85GM出現。

Have only had the lens for about a month. Used it a couple of times on my A6500. very happy the sharpness and quality of the lens

I have great worries about buying this lens, since I mostly shoot portraits. Surprisingly, after shooting it for a few months, it offers a uniqueness in portraits which is charming on its own, and so convenient to take videos with it as well.

Exceed expectations in all ways, this lens is super sharp, minimal distortion and literally I can't say anything negative. The weight, the feel, the look all surpass expectation and it's 1.4 ... it's priced perfectly as well, you get a lot of bang for the buck with this lens. All the high reviews are definitely justified, this makes me excited to save for another G Master to add to my growing lineup of lenses.
