How to play 360 Reality Audio music using the Amazon Music HD service

    IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check the Applicable Products and Categories section of this article before starting these steps.

    To play 360 Reality Audio music using the Amazon Music HD service, setup the Amazon Alexa feature on the Sony | Music Center, and then play the music by voice command or operating the Amazon Music app:

    1. Install the Sony | Music Center app on your smartphone.
      Notes:
      • If you have already installed the Sony | Music Center app, make sure that the app is updated to the latest version. For details about Sony | Music Center app operation, refer to the Sony | Music Center website.
      • Make sure that the audio device is also updated to the latest version.
    2. Following the on screen guidance, make an initial setup of the Sony | Music Center app.
    3. In the Sony | Music Center app, connect and setup the audio device and smartphone to the same Wi-Fi network.
      IMPORTANT: During the Sony | Music Center app setup, the Amazon Alexa Setup screen will appear and urge you to register the device. Do not skip this setup step.

      Note: In the Amazon Alexa Setup, the device name can be set freely, but we recommend using the following to increase the accuracy of the voice recognition:
      Using English,
      • For HT-A9: Home Theater
      • For HT-A5000, HT-A7000, HT-Z9F/ZF9: Sound Bar
      • For SRS-RA3000, SRS-RA5000: Wireless Speaker
    4. Play the music using either a voice command or by operating the Amazon Music app:
      • Operating the Amazon Music app to play music

        Select 3D Audio music in the Amazon Music app, and then tap the circle icon that represents the device.

        IMPORTANT: Tapping the circle icon representing your audio device enables you to cast the music via Amazon Alexa, and the music can be played using 360 Reality Audio feature. If you tap the square icon , the music is cast via Chromecast built-in and cannot be played using 360 Reality Audio feature.

        • A: Chromecast built-in device name (2-channel playback available)
          Note: This icon will be displayed only for Android apps.
        • B: Amazon Alexa device name (360 Reality Audio playback available)
      • Using the voice command
        You can play the 360 Reality Audio compatible music with the voice commands. If you set the Alexa device name as recommended in step 3, use the following voice commands:
        Using English,
        • For HT-A9: Alexa, play the playlist three sixty reality audio on the Home Theater
        • For HT-A5000, HT-A7000, HT-Z9F/ZF9: Alexa, play the playlist three sixty reality audio on the Sound Bar
        • For SRS-RA3000, SRS-RA5000: Alexa, play the playlist three sixty reality audio on the Wireless Speaker
    5. Confirm that the music is played using the 360 Reality Audio feature:
      • For Wireless Speaker (models with prefix SRS-RA): The Sound Mode indicator of the wireless speaker will light up in cyan (a greenish-blue color) while you are playing the music using 360 Reality Audio feature.
      • For Sound Bar (models with prefix HT-): The 360 Reality Audio icon will be displayed in the playback screen while you are playing the music using 360 Reality Audio feature.

    Notes:

    • You need to register a membership of the Amazon Music HD service to play 360 Reality Audio using the Amazon Music app.
    • Please be aware that some of the music content offered in the Amazon Music app is not 360 Reality Audio compatible.
    • Amazon Music HD supports the following languages: English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, and Japanese.

    For Amazon Music app for Android, you can cast music using either of the 2 ways: Amazon Alexa or Chromecast built-in. Be aware that you need to cast via Amazon Alexa to use 360 Reality Audio feature. If you cast via Chromecast built-in, you can only play music with 2-channel.

    Note: When you play music via Bluetooth connection, you can play music with 2-channel.

    For Amazon Music app for iOS, you can cast music using Amazon Alexa. Be aware that you need to cast via Amazon Alexa to use 360 Reality Audio feature.

    Notes:

    • When you play music via Bluetooth connection, you can play music with 2-channel.
    • The Amazon Music app for iOS does not support the Chromecast feature.
