Prepare for shooting as follows. Basic camera operations are also described below.

    Preparing the camera

Inserting and charging the battery pack

You can charge the battery pack with an external power source such as a USB AC adaptor (sold separately) by connecting a USB cable.
The camera terminal is USB Type-C. Use a USB cable that can be connected to a USB Type-C terminal.
Use a cable that complies with the USB standard.

    1. On the bottom of the camera, slide the switch on the battery cover and open the cover.
    2. Insert the battery pack and make sure it locks into place. Close the cover and slide the switch to the LOCK side.

    Attaching a lens

Make sure the camera is turned off before attaching or removing a lens. Perform the procedure quickly in an environment free of dust.
The sample procedure below explains how to attach the kit lens SEL2860 (FE 28-60mm F4-5.6) that comes with the ILCE-7CM2L.
If you did not purchase a lens kit, attach a lens that you have purchased separately.

    1. Remove the body cap from the camera and the rear lens cap from the rear of the lens.

Turn the camera body cap counterclockwise to remove it.

Turn the rear lens cap counterclockwise to remove it.

    2. Align the mounting indexes on the camera and lens. Turn the lens clockwise relative to the front of the camera, until it clicks into place.

To prevent dust from entering the camera, keep the image sensor side of the camera facing down.
Do not press the lens release button when attaching a lens.

    Note: Using the SEL2860 (FE 28-60mm F4-5.6)

The message "Please extend the lens by rotating the zoom ring to take photos or video." is displayed when you turn the camera on with the lens attached.
This message is cleared after you turn the zoom ring to extend the lens to "28" on the focal-length scale. Shoot with the focal-length scale set within the range of 28–60.
Retract the lens after you have finished shooting by aligning the focal-length index (•) with the index at the retracted position.
Turn the zoom ring a little harder near the "28" and "•" positions, where the resistance is greater.

For notes on using this lens with cameras other than the ILCE-7CM2, refer to the Help Guide.
