Why can't the Paint program be started and an error message appears?
An error message appears while user tries to edit a .BMP file.
Err Msg: Work cannot complete for lack of memory or resources. Exit some applications and try again.
If the error message appears when user opens a specific .BMP file, the file may have been saved in the compressed format that the Paint program does not support.
The error message may also appear if the initial size of a canvas is too large.
Follow the steps below to change the initial size of a canvas.
1. Open a BMP file.
2. From the Image menu, click Attributes.
3. Click the Default button and click OK.
4. From the File menu, click Exit.
5. When the Save change to Halloween dialog box appears, click No.
