How to use System Restore?

The use of System Restore.

Note: The use of the system restore function may result in the unusability of some drivers and programs. Users may need to reinstall these drivers and programs.

Using the system restore function may destroy the consistency of data in the hard disk drive, and may cause the system to be unstable and result in some loss of data. Please be sure to back up all important data before proceeding with System Restore.

Sony is not in a position to compensate for losses occurring from the use of the system restore function.
In addition, use of the system restore function may cause the database of OpenMG Jukebox to be unusable, depending on the restore point. To prevent such problems from occurring, please be sure to back up the data using the backup tool of OpenMG Jukebox.

The use of System Restore allows user to cancel improper modifications that is done to the computer and to restore the pervious configuration and performance to a particular point (which is called a restore point) of the system. Even with system restore, all documents and e-mails currently stored, and pages in History and My Favorite will not be discarded.

* Requirements of System Restore
The execution of System Restore requires at least 200MB free space on the hard disk drive (on the partition containing the Windows system folders).

* Protection of personal files
To protect the files such as documents and spreadsheets created by the user, System Restore does not restore files that are in the folders of My Documents.

* Storage location of the restore point of System Restore
The restore point of System Restore is usually stored in C:\Windows\Systems32\Restore.

To create a restore point, please follow the steps below.
Note: The computer will automatically create a restore point.
A. To create a restore point
B. To restore the computer to an earlier state
C. To restore the system to the state before the latest restoration

A. To create a restore point
1. Click Start, point to All Programs, Accessories, System Tools and clickSystem Restore.
2. Select the Create a Restore Point option and click Next.
3. In the Restore point description textbox, enter a name for this restore point and click Create. Creation of the restore point will be carried out.
4. When the Restore Point Created window appears, check the date of the new restore point and click Close.

B. To restore the computer to an earlier state
1. Click Start, point to All Programs, Accessories, System Tools and clickSystem Restore.
2. Select the Restore my computer to an earlier time option and click Next.
3. Select an effective restore point from the calendar and click Next. The effective restore points are indicated in bold.
4. When the Confirm Restore Point Selection window appears, check the date and type of the restore point and click Next. The system restore function will be carried out.
5. Click OK to restart the computer.

C. To restore the system to the state before the latest restoration
1. Click Start, point to All Programs, Accessories, System Tools and clickSystem Restore.
2. Select the Undo my last restoration option and click Next.
3. When the Confirm Restoration Undo window appears, check the date and type of the restore point and click Next. The restore point is cancelled.
4. When the computer restarts automatically, the Undo Complete window appears. Click OK.
