In accessing a shared folder in a Windows 2000-installed PC from other PCs in LAN, I am requested to input a password.


Create a new user for connecting your computer to another with Windows 2000.

The reinforced security function of Windows 2000 always requires to identify the user when the user want to connect the computer to another. Add a new connecting user first and access the shared folder of a Windows 2000 machine under the newly created user name and password. Executing the following procedures would stop displaying the window for inputting the password when you double-click the shared folder in Windows 2000 from Windows98/95 machines.

1. Click the "Start" button and then go into "Settings"-"Control Panel".

2. Double-click the "Administrative Tools" icon.

3. Double-click the "Computer Management" icon.

4. "Computer Managemant" which consists of two windows. See the "Tree" window and select "System Tools"-"Local Users and Groups"-"Users." Double-click the "Guest" in the right window.

5. Uncheck the checkbox of "Account is disabled" on the "General" tab in "Guest Properties,"and press "OK."
