    Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter (10/100)" is disabled in the "Device Manager" tab on "System Properties" on my PCG-Z505**

    -"Ethernet" in the "Enable Ports" tab on "Sony Notebook Setup" is unchecked.
    - I cannot connect my computer to a network.

    You cannot connect your computer to the network as the factory-shipped network settings (8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter) are disabled.

    Please enable the network settings with the following procedure.

    * To enable the network setting from "Sony Notebook Setup"
    (Procedure)
    1. Click the "Start" button on the taskbar and then click "Sony Notebook Setup" from "VAIO"-"Notebook Utilities".
    2. Click the "Enable Ports" tab.
    3. Turn on the checkbox of "Ethernet".
    4. Click the "OK" button.

    *To enable the network setting from "Device Manager"
    (Procedure)
    1. Right-click the "My Computer" icon on the desktop and then click "Properties".
    2. Click the "Device Manager" tab on "System Properties".
    3. Click "Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter (10/100)" in "Network Adapters" and then click the "Properties" button.
    4. Click the "Enable Device" button or turn off the checkbox of "Disable in the hardware profile".
    5. Click the "OK" button.
    6. Click the "Close" button (button on the upper right corner of each window) to close the window of "Device Manager".
