How to add or remove an Ethernet adapter on Windows® Me?
Follow the steps below to add or remove the relevant Ethernet adapter:
A. Intel ? PRO/100 VE Network Connection (in the case of PCG-FX800, FX800L, R505CT, R505DT and R505CKR)
1. Click Start, point to Settings and click Control Panel.
2. Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
3. In the Install/Uninstall tab, click Intel ? PRO Ethernet Adapter and Software and then click the Add/Remove button.
4. When the Intel ? PRO Adapters and Software Uninstaller dialog box appears, click OK.
5. When the System Settings Change dialog box appears, click Yes to restart Windows®.
6. When Windows® has started, right-click My Computer on the desktop and then click Properties.
7. Click the Device Manager tab and click the plus sign [+] of Network adapters to change it to minus sign [->b].
8. Under Network adapters, click Intel ? PRO/100 Network Connection and then click Properties.
9. Click the Driver tab and then click the Update Driver button.
10. Click the Specify the location of the driver (Advanced) option and click Next.
11. Insert Recovery CD-ROM Vol. 2 of 2 into the drive, enable the Specify a location option, specify (Drive):\VAIO\Drivers\Ethernet and click Next.
12. Check that Intel ? PRO/100 VE Network Connection appears and click Next.
13. When Windows® has finished installing an updated driver for your hardware device appears, click Finish.
14. When the window prompt to restart Windows® appears, restart to complete the procedure.
B. Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter (10/100) (in the case of PCG-Z505GA, GAT, GKRT, GAM, GAH, CATM and GATH)
1. Click Start, point to Settings and click Control Panel.
2. Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
3. In the Install/Uninstall tab, click Intel ? PRO Ethernet Adapter and Software and then click the Add/Remove button.
4. When the Intel ? PRO Adapters and Software Uninstaller dialog box appears, click OK.
5. When the System Settings Change dialog box appears, click Yes to restart Windows.
6. When the Add New Hardware Wizard dialog box appears at the startup time of Windows®, click the Specify the location of the driver (Advanced) option and clickNext.
7. Connect the CD-ROM driver to the computer and insert Recovery CD-ROM Vol. 2 of 2 into the drive. Click the Search for the best driver for your device option and in the Specify a location text box, enter (Drive)\vaio\drivers\Network. Click Next.
8. When Windows® prompts What would you like to install?, click the The updated software option and click Next.
9. Check that Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter (10/100) appears on the screen and click Next.
10. When the installation of the drivers are completed, click Finish and then restart Windows®.
