How to eject CD-R/RW media formatted with DirectCD

Various format options are prepared for the type and use of CD-R/RW media when you eject them.
Refer to the following for the procedure to eject the CD-R/RW media formatted with DirectCD.

In case you eject CD-R media.
    1. Right-click the "Adaptec DirectCD Wizard" icon on the task bar and then click "Eject". The "Eject CD" window appears.

    2. Click one of the following option buttons.
    - "Leave the disk as it is so that it can be read and written through drive letter access in the future."
When you select the above option button, you can write data to the CD-R/RW with DirectCD next time.

    - "Organize the disc so that it can be read in most standard CD-ROM drives under Windows 95/98 and Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 3 or greater and Windows 2000. Note: You will have to make this disc writable to add more
    files to it.
    * Protect disc so that it cannot be written to again."
When you select the above option button, the writing software closes the session with the ISO 9660 format so that CD-R/RW can be read through the CD-ROM drives of other computers.

    3. Click the "Finish" button.

    4. The slot of the CD-R/RW drive opens automatically and the message "Disk ejected!" appears. Clicking the "OK" button completes the ejection of CD-R/RW media.

    * Remarks
To make the CD-R/RW media readable through other CD-ROM drives, the closing of writing data must be
processed with the ISO 9660 format. This format requires an open space of 22MB for a closing session and 13MB for each additional session.
The ISO 9660 format supports the closing process only of the CD-R media but not the process of the CD-RW media.

To read the data written to the CD-R closed with the ISO9660 format using DirectCD, however, requires the interpretation of Packet Linking (information of linking between packets).
Some OS?s cannot interpret this Packet Linking and so they cannot read the data written to the CD-R.
In that case, create a data CD with such authoring software as Easy CD Creator.

    To eject a CD-RW
    1) Right-click the [DirectCD] icon on the task bar and then click [Eject].
The dialog box of [Eject disc] appears.

    2) When the ejection completed, the following message appears.
    Disc ejected

    Supplement
When [Direct CD] is used, data is written to a CD-RW in compliance with
    UDF Ver.1.5.
Different from the data written with the ISO9660 format, UDF Reader, which is the dedicated reading software, is required to read the data written in UDF Ver.1.5.
When you use a Windows 2000 or Windows Me preinstalled VAIO computer, you do not need to pay any attention to this point as your machine has UDF Reader already preinstalled.
If you use a computer to which UDF Reader is not installed, you are prompted to install UDF Reader stored in the ISO9660 compatible area created in the CD-RW in advance when you insert the CD-RW in the drive.
