Why can't the left/right (LR) input levels be adjusted when sound is recorded through microphone?

When sound is recorded through a microphone, adjustments made to the levels of left/right (LR) channels are not reflected on the recorded song.

As recording of sound through Mic-in is monaural, adjusting the (LR) level of Mic-in will not have any effect on the recorded song.

Note: Songs can recorded through Mic-in, but this is not recommended as the recording will be in monaural mode.
